'1787' is named after two creations of the year 1787: the Potemkin Village and the Panorama.

These two themes constitute the basic premise of the two-part project: a primitive facade facing the street with an immersive interior environment.

The facade is constructed from a tectonic stacking of blocks that are inexact but self-similar, evoking a form that is at once primitive and futuristic. A contemporary assembly is created through an abstract approximation of something older.
